American Girl Doll Star Wars Lightsaber

American Girl Doll Star Wars Lightsaber

A raise of hands to show who has already seen Star Wars the Force Awakens.  Were you at the midnight showing?  We weren’t, it was a school night, but a lot of our family was!  If you are a Star Wars fan you will love this simple craft.  My favorite thing about the American Girl Doll Star Wars Lightsaber is how different you can make each lightsaber with a few easy changes!  This craft was easy and a lot of fun. This is one of my most favorite crafts ever. I know the kids sure loved it too!   …. May the Force be with you

Materials Needed:

  1. Wooden Dowel
  2. Craft Paint
  3. Nail File or Sander
  4. Silver & Black Tape
  5. Seed Beads

TIPS:

  • You can omit the seed beads and tape if you don’t have it.  Substitute either paint or paper.  It will still be just as cute!
  • No wooden dowel?  No problem!  Use a straw, rolled up paper, or a glow stick!
  • Make it unique!  It doesn’t have to look like the characters lightsabers if you don’t want it too!  Make it special to your doll!

Leave a comment telling us your favorite Star Wars Lightsaber.  Yoda? Darth Vader? Darth Maul? Kylo Ren?Obi-Wan?

I made one of these for my 6 year old cousin. I didn’t have a wooden dowel but a regular straw from Wendy’s worked fine.

This is SOOO cute!!!!! If only I had a wooden dowel, glow stick, or a jumbo straw.? Oh well. I haven’t seen episode 7 yet, but I hope to! I have only seen up to episode 4 (Yeah, I need to catch up?) But anyways, I would LOVE to make this! And one of my favorite lightsabers is Obi-Wan. He is also one of my favorite characters.?

Just recently found your website. The light sabers are awesome-as are all of your ideas. We just watched the first 6 Star Wars episodes to prepare for the new one. Looks like our dolls will have lightsabers by morning! My daughter wants to make a purple one. Thanks!

I’m am totally going to have to get some dowels and make some lightsabers with my daughter over the holiday break! I never even thought about making doll lightsabers. And while I still have a crush on Luke Skywalker from when I was a kid, Darth Maul in that one duel scene is the most awesome.

They are about 12″ I believe and I sanded off about 2″ for the blue one and left the red one full length.
