American Girl DIY Cotton Candy Cart
When we made the DIY American Girl Ice Cream Cart we had so many requests for us to make it out of foam board. So, we listened and here is the step by step using foam board. We also had a lot of requests to make cotton candy. So, instead of making another ice cream cart (we don’t need three) we turned it into a cotton candy cart! Simply print out the patterns below and follow the video.
There is also a giveaway for our favorite foam board tools, FoamWerks. Be sure to enter the giveaway below. Here is the link for the FoamWerks Deluxe Kit so you can check out what all comes with it. Logan Deluxe FoamWerks Kit
Materials Needed:
- Cotton Candy Sign
- Cotton Candy Menu
- Hot Glue
- Straight Edge Cutter
- Foamboard 1/2″ & 3/16″
Patterns:
American Girl DIY Cotton Candy Cart Cutouts
TIPS:
- If you use different thickness foam board than what I used, you will need to readjust some pieces.
- This can be a multi-use cart. Food, treats, drinks, so many ideas!
- The FoamWerks tools are best, but if all you can use is an X-acto knife, just make sure you use a fresh blade and cut all the way through in one motion. Do not try to “saw” through the foam board. That will give you jagged edges.
Watch and tell us your favorite flavor cotton candy

Can i just get the measurments instead of printing out 3 or more pages worth of shapes? Im afraid the printer will not get the right size like the fruit by the foot box seemed too big and the wrappers too small

Did this project today. Super cute, but I wish there were some actual directions to follow as the video is difficult to follow. Also some of the pieces do not fit together properly- the door is too small for the opening, the counter was way too small (had to cut out a new piece). Also had to cut a new front piece to fit. And there is no pattern piece for the bottom of the cart. Aside from all of the issues we had putting it together, I think it will turn out adorable when I’m finally done!
I’m sorry your pieces didn’t fit together properly. Sometimes when working with foamboard it can be tricky and you have to resize a few things because not all foamboard brands are the exact same thickness. The patterns I provided were from my cart that was showed in the video. Each piece was scanned for the pattern. In the post the original plans were linked, so you could see the step by step pictures. You can see that here: https://www.americangirlideas.com/american-girl-diy-cotton-candy-cart/
Do you need a special program in your computer to print the templates/patterns. I printed them and they don’t match, like they are out of scale 🙁
I need you to teach me how to make this stuff it is amzing
I would LOVE to make the cotton candy cart, but I can’t find the pattern pages

I stalk this site and somehow missed this video! Amazing as always!!!!!! I can’t keep up with you. 😂 my first project with foam works would probably be the cotton candy stand and Lea’s fruit stand! Only problem is I wouldn’t be able to stop using it!
My daughter would love to use these tools for Grace’s bakery!
I also have a few questions if you don’t mind.
Where do you keep all of the crafts you make?
How do you take such great care of you dolls?
Thanks! Hope you answer!
I LOVE those tools! I have a Exacto knife and a lot of siblings who use it and ruin the blade. I would make this cart actually. I really want to make a surfboard, and Lea’s Baja Fruit Stand! Thanks!
I would make try to make a American Girl Doll sized Kitchen for my doll Grace. We both love baking.
The whole carnival looks like so much fun. The first thing

My first thing I would probably build is Lea’s fruit stand.
I would make your cotton candy cart to go with my AG ice cream push cart. I am posting your cotton candy cart how-to video on my Pinterest page. Thanks so much for sharing all your wonderful ideas. I love them.
Wow I would LOVE to win those tools! That set is super expensive if you live in Canada!!
The first thing I would make if I won is the fruit stand.
I’m not social media savvy so I don’t understand the ‘share’ option, what goes in the empty box?
I’m Canadian so the skill testing question is 5.
I would make Lea’s house.
All I can make right now is the cotton candy, but it can be like an at-home snack!
I would love to make a doll diner like Maryellen’s!
I would make the cotton candy cart, and if I end up getting Lea Clark I’ll also make her fruit stand! The cotton candy cart was such a cute idea! 😉

The first project I would make would be the cotton candy cart because I recently got the OG ice cream set and I could use this cart for ice cream too!
I would make the OG Ice Cream Truck if I won this set! I will share this with my friends 🙂
I would make the Ice cream cart!
So cute! I don’t need more doll stuff though….. I probably shouldn’t make the cart, I’ll just use a previous craft to make it a Cotton Candy stand! I have been brainstorming a way to make Cotton Candy, so thanks Rudy!
I would use it for a fridge!
Your crafts are amazing! I would love to win this for my daughter to make beds for her dolls.
I am currently using foam board to make a kitchen for my doll. And having these tools would really help make the job quicker and easier.
I would make this cotton candy cart! I love it!!
Yay! The first thing I would make is an arcade for dolls. I have started but it is really hard to cut foam board. Thanks for the giveaway!
The first thing I would make if I won the foamwerks kit is your doll sized cotton candy cart, or a bunch of appliances for the dolls kitchen (fridge, oven, counters, etc.)
Hi Rudy! I love your blog! Would you be able to make doll school desks? Sort-of like the one from American Girl.
