DIY American Girl Doll Chalkboard

After making the American Girl Doll School Desk, I thought it was only fitting to make a chalk board to go with it!  Now your dolls can play school with a teacher and students.  It’s a simple plan to follow and you can even add a white dry erase board to the back.  Now you have two sides to use for school.

 Shopping list:

1 – 1×10 @ 6’
Wood Glue
1 1/4’’ Nails for 18 Gauge Nailer
1 – Dry Erase Board

Cut List:

1 – 3/4’’ @ 10 7/8’’ x 8 3/8’’ – Chalkboard
1 – 3/4’’ x 3/4’’ @ 10 7/8’’ – Chalk Holder
2 – 3/4’’ x 3/4’’ @ 12 1/2’’ – Legs
2 – 3/4’’ x 3/4’’ @  9 5/8’’ – Feet
4 – Leg supports – Follow diagram listed below

Tools:

18 Gauge Nailer
Tape Measure
Miter Saw
Table Saw
Drill
Hearing Protection
Safety Glasses
Pencil
Sanding Block

Step 1:

Create the support blocks for the feet.  You will need four.

Step 2:

Attach the sides to the feet.  Nail from the bottom into place.

Step 3:

Nail into place the support blocks that you made in step one.

Step 4:

Nail into place the center support beam.  This will also be the chalk holder.

Step 5:

Add the board that will become the chalk board once painted.

Now that the structure is complete, tape off around the board and spray on chalk paint.  Once dry, remove the tape and paint the rest with a different color of choice.  I also bought a regular dry erase board and glued it onto the back so I could have a reversible board. See pictures below.
