Our Generation Laundry Set
Have you seen this set before? I’m sure you have. Either you own it (and lucky you if you do) or you have seen it in pictures of dollhouse laundry rooms, youtube videos, or eBay selling as an incomplete set. Well, (and many of you already know this because you yourself already experienced this craziness) a few weeks ago the Our Generation Laundry Set randomly popped up on the Target website as in stock! And for those of you in an area that cannot order from Target.com it was on the Target eBay store for sale. I was so excited! It was my chance to finally add it to our collection since I should have done it long ago. Of course I jumped on the deal right away and ordered one for us. When it arrived the kids and I had just had a long day out so it sat unopened until later. The next day, I woke up and the kids were begging me to open it. I had plans for it, we cleared a room in a dollhouse that would be dedicated for a laundry room and I worked on some printables. Laundry room artwork if you will. I knew several other people had ordered this set so I thought it would be fun to create some printables that everyone could enjoy with their new big item! I got my youngest one ready for a picture because she wanted to present it! And…….
This is what we opened! I can laugh about it now, but I was not laughing that day! I made a round of calls still hoping there was a way to get the Our Generation Laundry Set and I went through a lot of people that all seemed to have different stories! I was told I would be put on the email/phone list which meant as soon as the item was back in stock I would be notified. I was told Target would have it again in 4-6 weeks. My friend was told there was no such thing. See, it is kind of funny now. Then, this morning I get the following email from OG Dolls:
We are sorry to hear that you are having difficulty finding the laundry set. The pink laundry set is no longer available, but a new set in a different color is presently in production and will be available later in the year.
Thank you.
When I read this I had excitement run through me, but at the same time I’m not holding my breath! I hope it’s not another run around to get rid of me, the annoying doll enthusiast here. I mean after all, WE are practically begging for an item from them! Actually I have a long list of items I’ve been begging for that Our Generation has made. Don’t they get it?! Have more items in stock already! Sell ALL OF THEM online already! Give us what we want! OG can make a doll lover crazy you know! All I have to say is that they better release it before American Girl does.

What do you think will come with the new laundry set that’s in production? What color is it going to be? How much will it cost? Will it be the right size? I always worry when a new OG item comes out that the scale will be off. Let’s face it, they aren’t exactly known for the perfect doll size items.
P.S. The kids still enjoyed the Gourmet Kitchen. We didn’t need another kitchen, but with all the excitement we had that morning before the disappointment, I couldn’t not let them play and enjoy the doll day!

Howdy! Has anyone had any luck with getting the laundry set? I had the same thing happen to me TWICE … I ordered the laundry set and received the kitchen set… so I called Target, they sent out another package which was to be the laundry set…. low & behold it was ANOTHER kitchen set. So now I have 2 kitchen sets and NO laundry set. I called Targets customer service & they advised me to send back the kitchen sets for a refund. I asked why I was able to order the item if they were out of stock… they advised me that it was probably in stock when I ordered the first time but unfortunately, I was given the wrong item. They advised me to call my local Target store & see if they had one available. So I called around to 5 different Targets and not a one of them had one in the store… Extremely frustrating and now I am at a loss with what to get my daughter. They need to make the laundry set available if its listed on their website.
If any of you ladies have any success I congratulate you!!

Thanks for your info. This just happened to me last week. I called Our Generation and she also informed me it isn’t discontinued but doesn’t know when it will be available at Target again. I told her I read about it being made in a different color and I didn’t care what color it is, I just want the laundry set. I don’t need another kitchen. The OG rep said its an issue I’d have to deal w/Target about because Target is the only distributor & they can’t sell to the public. SO frustrating!

Hi! I was wondering if you ever got this set or not because the SAME thing just happened to me!! My daughter was on Targets website because she loves the Our Generation products and saw the laundry set and said she wanted Santa to bring it for Christmas. I went on the next day and ordered it and was excited when it arrived. Luckily I opened it instead of just wrapping it for Christmas because to my disappointment it was also the Gourmet Kitchen which my daughter already has!!! I was SO disappointed, imagine how my 8 yr old would of felt. I was NOT happy & was on the phone w/Target customer service for an hr, to end up w/an apology & a $20 gift card which I told them I didn’t want because I want my laundry set!! Ugh!

I never ended up getting the pink set, but I did get the blue set. I know that this last time around,(the same time you ordered) that is was a 50/50 shot. Some people did end up getting the laundry and others like yourself got the kitchen. So frustrating! Target really needs to change their system!

I completely agree that Target needs to get their act together and carry the new stuff. If not in the stores, then at least on their website. It is so frustrating trying to find what others are selling on Ebay for 3 times what the retail price is.

Since I love ur website and all the crafts u make,I decided to see if there is one washer and dryer available and,THERE WAS!The only thing is that it is on Ebay so it is used:(It is bidding so the bidding is at 63 dollars.That is a little pricey but if u really want it,go for it.

At least you have a Target store. Ha…ha!!! We had one for nearly 2 years; in fact we had over 130 of them in Canada. Then poof! They all went bankrupt at the very same time and disappeared in April 2015. Sigh….I do love the OG stuff. I enjoyed it while I could. Anyhow, I do really like this site and all your ideas. They are phenomenal!

It’s totally hit or miss at Target. I have been disappointed many of times. Why can’t a big company have control of their inventory and their numbering system. Oh well, I’ve learned to take them with a grain of salt. They need to get their act together.

I hate target when it comes to the our generation section! They never have a good stock, and there is never the new stuff! My sister was lucky enough to see the newer suitcase when it came out, i went a few weeks earlier and it was NOT there! I was lucky enough to see the sharp as a fox outfit once, I was pretty happy cause I NEVER see cute new sets. Only boring old sets. Of course I bought it.They also only have a tiny section, like a fourth of a aisle!:( I REALLY wanted the sewing machine set, but I never saw it. I might look on amazon for it even if it costs more. So my advice, if you see something you like, BUY IT!!!!!!

Target drives me CRAZY!! I spent over a year checking our several different stores for the sewing machine accessory set! I called their customer service all I was told that they come in in assorted packs (4 to a box). Customer service said that they should change the system and give each set its own number I agreed but when new sets come out its the same system. I even went in Targets on vacation in other states and never got it.
Why they don’t increase production since they obviously could sell them.
I am agreeing with Flo, turquoise for the laundry color – if they really sell it. I also saw the turquoise set on the web site.

Target and their distribution of the OG line annoys me to no end, they need to work on this big time. I hope you eventually get the laundry set. At one point in time they had a turquoise colored one on the website, but no one ever actually ever “saw” it anywhere, so I wonder if that is what it’s going to be? I have pretty much given up on most of the stuff OG comes out with, I refuse to run from store to store trying to find it.
