The New Cricut Maker

The wait is finally over! The new Cricut Maker is available to the public for purchase! A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Cricut Make-a-thon in Salt lake City, Utah where I showed you sneak peeks of the new Maker on Instagram and YouTube. The event was so much fun but what I am most excited about is showing you exactly what it can do. I highly recommend you get one and follow along with the Cricut tutorials because I have a feeling there will be a lot of doll crafts in the future. There are links below showing you where you can order the Cricut Maker and my readers can get an extra 30% off supplies by following this discount link. <<<30% off Cricut Supplies>>> So, stock up on supplies! The Designer Fabric Samplers are my favorite. I will be showing you some very unique projects, not just your typical paper cut and vinyl iron ons.

What does the Maker do that the previous Cricut Machines can’t do?

The Cricut Maker can cut fabrics without backing material. Other Cricut machines can cut fabric, but you have to stabilize the fabric by using Heat n Bond. The same is said for felt. I have cut felt on my Cricut Explore, but for it to come out right I had to use Heat n Bond. Now I can cut felt or fabric without that! Why is this a big deal? Because now you the Maker can cut out an entire pattern without backing so you can complete a doll outfit in less than an hour! No more cutting out the paper pattern, pinning, then cutting the fabric. That’s all done by the Maker! You just choose the pattern you want in Design Space and select cut! It will cut hundreds of materials including denim, wool felt, leather and so much more.

New Tools:

Rotary Blade

The Cricut maker comes with a new rotary blade which is perfect for cutting patterns. It makes it so simple to cut a pattern.

Fabric Marker

This washable fabric marker goes into the slot next to the rotary blade and will mark the pattern before cutting the fabric. It marks the seam allowance and numbers the pieces for you.

Fabric Mat

The pink fabric mat has been specially formatted to hold fabric down while cutting and keep it from fraying. This is an all new mat not used before with previous machines.

Knife Blade

I am very excited for the new knife blade (to be released in October) because I am always using a knife blade when crafting. The new blade can cut through thicker materials including Basswood and Balsa. It will be so much fun to craft for our dolls using this tool. I will create projects in Design Space and share them with you so all you have to do is set up your Maker and cut!
