American Girl Chandelier

Furnishing your dollhouse can expensive.  Unless you are willing to unleash your crafty side and have a little fun creating props for it yourself!  I was looking for an American Girl Chandelier to put in my daughters American Girl Dollhouse, but everyone I found was ridiculously priced.  I decided to make a replica of a few I did find.  And it’s so easy, you can probably make it with what you have on hand.

Materials Needed:

Card-stock

Ribbon

Scissors

Cricut (optional)

Vinyl (optional)

Cup Hook

Step 1:

Take a piece of 6×12″ card stock and run glue on the edge.  Then fold one side over the other to make a cylinder.  Press it and make sure it’s dry.

Step 2:

This step you will be creating the shapes that you want to dangle from your dollhouse chandelier.  You can do a circle, square, diamond, oval, really any shape will work.  For an example, use a bottle cap to trace a circle on card stock.  Repeat this step until you have several circles to cut out.

Step 2 Optional:

Since I have a Cricut on hand, I choose to use it!  It takes less time to cut out my shapes.  I found a shape I wanted (I let my daughter pick it out since it’s for her dollhouse) and adjusted the setting for it.  Then, instead of card-stock, I used Vinyl.  I used Vinyl because in the next step I don’t have to use glue, it will just stick!

Step 3:

In this step you are making the ribbon to hang from the dollhouse chandelier you already made.  Take some thin ribbon and cut it into several strips.  I cut 7 of them 6″ long.

Step 4:

Take the strips of ribbon you just cut and add the shapes to it.  If you used cardboards shapes, you will need to glue or tape them to the ribbon.  If you used Vinyl like me, it will stick on.  To attach the ribbon to the dollhouse chandelier, I just used one of the oval vinyl stickers I cut.  You can use tape as an alternative.  Tape it to the inside of the chandelier.

Step 5:

Take another piece of ribbon and cut it for the top.  This will be what holds the chandelier up.  I cut mine about 4″.  You can adjust it as needed if you cut it too long.  Take it and tape it to the top inside of the chandelier.  See picture below.

Step 6:

Take one cup hook and place it on the ceiling of your dollhouse where you want to hang the chandelier.  You just press it hard and twist it in the wood.  I love cup hooks!

Hang your new dollhouse chandelier up and enjoy!

Not a crafty person?  That’s okay, I made a list of cute ideas you can use as a dollhouse chandelier.

Hi, I really like this post but I don’t have all the materials and don’t live in America? Are there any other materials to replace these?
